Pets

You must obtain an application to bring a pet into Namibia.

You will submit the application along with a money order for N$50 and accompanied by the Namibia International Veterinary Health Certificate no less than 3 days prior to arrival in Namibia.

The certificate must indicate that the pet is healthy, free of parasites and has current inoculations. The rabies vaccine must be given at least 30 days prior to travel but no more than 11 months prior to travel.

Namibia does not quarantine pets from the United States, Canada or the EU Countries. Visitors from all other countries should contact the Namibia consulate for information prior to bringing a pet into that Country.

Namibia requires that you submit an Application to permit at the entry of your pet prior to travel.

General Information

Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country in Southern Africa whose western border is the Atlantic Ocean. It shares borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana and Zimbabwe to the east, and South Africa to the south and east. It gained independence from South Africa on 21 March 1990 following the Namibian War of Independence. Its capital and largest city is Windhoek.
