Pets

Bringing a pet into Malaysia requires an import permit. In addition your pet will need a microchip,rabies vaccination and certificate,vet health certificate, current vaccination records, and USDA endorsement. Other restrictions may apply.

Require:

- health certificate, issued 7 days prior to departure and stating that during the preceding 6 months no case of rabies has occurred in the country of dispatch and the animal has not been imported in the country of origin;

- import permit;

Dogs and cats are quarantined for 30 days or more, unless coming from Singapore (export licence from Government of Singapore required), Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or Ireland. Originating airports must telex station manager of transporting airline at point of disembarkation flight number, origin and destination, types and numbers of pets. Those subject to quarantine must have space reserved in advance at Kuala Lumpur Quarantine Station.There is a 7-day mandatory quarantine for all pets going into Malaysia from the US.

Some breeds need special approval to be brought in.

Malaysia is a country that consists of thirteen states and three federal territories in Southeast Asia with a total landmass of 329,847 square kilometres (127,355 sq mi). The capital city is Kuala Lumpur, while Putrajaya is the seat of the federal government.

Malaysia is the 43rd most populated country and the 66th largest country by total land area in the world, with a population of about 27 million and a land area of over 320,000 km2 respectively. It is comparable in population to Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, and is roughly similar in size to Norway and Vietnam, along with the U.S. state of New Mexico.
