Cats and dogs require an Import Permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, P.O. Box 1001, Georgetown and Health Certificate issued by competent Authorities in country of origin, stating that animal was vaccinated against rabies less than one year but at least 30 days prior to arrival in Guyana.

Animals will be quarantined for 90 days unless arriving from the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Barbados, Dominica, Ireland, Jamaica, Montserrat, New Zealand, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

Guyana is officially the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and previously known as British Guiana, is a state on the northern coast of South America that is culturally associated with the Anglophone Caribbean. It is the only state of the Commonwealth of Nations on mainland South America. Guyana is bordered to the east by Suriname, to the south and southwest by Brazil, to the west by Venezuela, and on the north by the Atlantic Ocean.
