EU Country Pet Resources

Traveling to an EU Country

Relocating or traveling to Europe can be an equally exciting adventure for your pet.

Here are some important things to remember:

1.The EU Vet Health Certificate

This is the standard pet health certificate (Form EC#: 998) to be filled out by your USDA accredited veterinarian.

It is recommended that this certificate be completed and endorsed by the USDA within 10 days of travel to avoid any customs issues at arrival (this certificate is valid for 4 months). Life Unleashed can help you obtain this form.

2. USDA Government Endorsement (when departing US)

3. Microchip Implantation Record & Information

4. Proper Rabies Documentation

5. The International Health Certificate

If traveling from the US the USDA requires the APHIS 7001 endorsed by your USDA vet for animal exports. International health certificates for the export of animals from the United States are completed by the APHIS accredited veterinarian who certifies animal health status, conducts tests, and records test results for the individual animals being exported. Completed and signed international health certificates for the export of animals from the United States must be endorsed by a Veterinary Services area office in order to be valid. To obtain the USDA endorsement of an international health certificate or any other documents relating to traveling with your pet, the documents must be completed by an APHIS/USDA Accredited Veterinarian.

We recommend that you make sure your vet has this form on hand. This is an international health certificate required to be completed by your veterinarian within 10 days of departure. Additional USDA endorsement maybe required depending on the health certificate and area of relocation.

6. Pet must travel with all original documentation

For more information public inquiries should be directed to the nearest USDA Veterinary Area Services Offices.
